Patricia is an Usui Reiki Master Teacher. She has nine year’s experience with Usui Reiki and other energy based techniques. She received Reiki I and II in 2000 and became a Reiki Master in 2001 through Dr. Bonnie Ness. Patricia learned of The International Center for Reiki Training and William Rand's book Reiki: The Healing Touch. After reading it she immediately knew that was the book she had been searching for. Discovering the Japanese Reiki techniques was an important link for her as a Reiki teacher and practitioner. She took ART/Master training with William Rand in 2005. She then took Karuna Reiki Master training with William Rand, Laurelle Gaia, and Michael Baird in 2006. She also took Gendai Reiki-Ho Master training with Hiroshi Doi, a Japanese Reiki Master, in Toronto, Canada in 2006. Patricia became an ICRT licensed teacher in 2009.
Patricia says, “Reiki is a sacred initiation and the primary purpose of Reiki is self-healing. As we heal ourselves spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically – we bring wholeness and balance into our lives. As we truly love ourselves and honor our divinity, our capacity to love and honor others grows exponentially.”
Patricia and her husband Dominic own The Inspired Heart in Vero Beach, FL. Reiki classes, Reiki Circle, and Reiki Shares are offered in the Sacred Space located next to their retail space.
Patricia's Story:
I was born to a Japanese mother and American father in Kure, Japan. Mom was Shinto, dad was Protestant and they decided to raise my siblings and me as Catholic. I spent my early childhood feeling connected to everything and then much of my adult life feeling separate from everyone. Life was not easy for a Japanese-American child in the early 60's.
I always felt we are here for a reason and with a purpose. I felt I fulfilled my purpose at the age of 22 with the birth of my only child, Anthony Hickman. Anthony was born on St. Valentine's Day, February 14, 1980. Four or five days after Anthony's birth, I received anonymously in the mail a poem ordinarily sent after the passing of a child, not when a child was just born. I wondered to myself if this was a premonition, placed the poem in Anthony's baby book, and let it go. I was newly divorced in 1995 when Anthony was 15. That fateful day arrived December 31,1996; Anthony transitioned with three other teenagers in an automobile crash. Life as I knew it completely disappeared that day.
I knew I had to heal my heart otherwise it would somehow manifest physically. I completely surrendered, asking God to help me. I learned about a type of energy healing called Reiki and immediately knew I needed treatments. Then I learned how to do Reiki for myself.
I became more loving of myself and let go of the need to be a victim. Acceptance of my new life grew. I attended many spiritual conferences and read many books on body, mind, and spirit connection.
I met my husband Dominic after attending a course in Sweden. Dominic, a native Floridian, lost his only child in an auto crash 4 months prior to our meeting. He moved to Virginia with me and became a Reiki Master. We then moved to Vero Beach, FL to be near his dying mother and father. Coming from a large spiritual community in Virginia Beach and moving to Vero was a huge transition for me. I asked what was I to do here. The spiritual shop in town was closing after 18 years. Intuitively I was guided to occupy that space and create the Inspired Heart. The Inspired Heart opened its doors in March 2004.
Dominic and I wanted to share the sacredness of Reiki through the shop. We started a Reiki Circle 8 months after the Inspired Heart opened and continuously offer it every week for four years now. Our Reiki Circle is an opportunity for people from all walks of life to come and experience Reiki. It is also an opportunity for my students to practice giving Reiki and to build their confidence as practitioners. Everyone benefits. We also offer Reiki Shares once monthly for my students to assist in each other's healing.
Reiki is my passion. I treat Reiki with the utmost of integrity and sacredness. I am grateful every day for the gift of Reiki in my life.
