When the media started projecting that the coronavirus would impact the East Coast, my son Erik, his girlfriend Tresha, and I formatted a plan for sheltering in place. We began gathering emergency supplies. Tresha made hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes. I got busy making masks for everyone.
My son is considered an essential worker at an Amazon fulfillment center, where employees reportedly tested positive. Both Tresha and I are in the high-risk category and could not afford to come down with coronavirus. We took the precautions within reason. Then my son had intermittent symptoms. I knew that remaining calm and grounded was a key factor in not allowing fear and panic to compromise our immune systems further. I increased the time spent doing self and distance Reiki, besides meditation. I would fill the entire house with all the love and light Reiki has to offer, using all the sacred symbols every day. Right from the beginning, I was confident that Reiki would keep us safe!
On March 29, 2020, Tracey Sullivan, a Licensed Reiki Master Teacher with the International Center for Reiki Training, sent out an email inviting her students to join a Reiki Circle she was hosting every night until further notice. I thought this was a wonderful idea. Tracey would conduct Experiences, guided meditations, send Reiki, and even invited a yoga master to conduct a yoga nidra deep relaxation meditation. We have also worked on individual chakras and grounding techniques—all incredibly powerful experiences. The only times I missed the meetings were due to poor internet service and my ancient laptop acting up. Our group has bonded together over time. It is so important in these uncertain times that we stay connected with those of a like mind. During one of our sessions, I asked if Tracey would add my son to her Reiki grid. He was not getting better and tested positive. Since that night, the list has many more names added.
As time went on, I became concerned that Erik was not improving, Tresha was symptomatic, and I felt like I was on the verge of coming down with something. I made an appointment to get tested and had to wait almost a week for the results. During the wait time, Erik improved after being held hostage by the coronavirus for a month. I was so relieved to know he was on the mend finally!
On May 4, 2020, I received a call from my medical doctor. The results were in—I was NEGATIVE. How could that be when I was the oldest, least healthy out of the three of us? Simple! I remained positive that the Divine Nature of Reiki would protect us and see us through this safely. I can never express the immense gratitude I have for Tracey and the entire Reiki Circle that prayed and sent extra Reiki to all of us. I think the reason I was feeling a bit under the weather was toxins clearing from my body due to all the deep healing Experiences we were doing. I remember feeling similarly after going through my Master level training back in September.
May you all stay safe, positive, and connected to your higher power and the Holy Fire®.
